BARBARA GOODSTEIN BECOMES AXA EQUITABLE'S CHIEF INNOVATION OFFICER
New York - July 17, 2007 -, NY - Barbara Goodstein has been appointed Chief Innovation Officer of AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company. Ms. Goodstein is also Executive Vice President of Marketing and a member of the company's Executive Management Committee. The announcement was made today by Christopher M. "Kip" Condron, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AXA Equitable, to whom Ms. Goodstein reports.
"Growth and innovation go hand in hand," said Mr. Condron. "To be the preferred financial protection company, we must foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning throughout the organization. With her creative talent and outstanding project execution skills, Barbara is the ideal candidate to develop and lead AXA Equitable's enterprise-wide innovation strategy."
As Chief Innovation Officer, Ms. Goodstein is responsible for growth initiatives across AXA Equitable. She heads a newly-formed Marketing and Innovation business group that serves as an incubator for new business ideas, where concepts are explored, tested, and brought to market quickly. Under Ms. Goodstein's leadership, new growth initiatives will be developed and implemented outside existing business lines so they are not competing for resources or subordinated by day-to-day issues.
Ms. Goodstein also assumes responsibility for the company's At RetirementSM platform, focused on providing holistic advice, financial education, products, and services to individuals approaching or at retirement. Ms. Goodstein continues to have overall responsibility for AXA Equitable's company-wide Marketing, Advertising and Internet Strategy and Development business teams.
Ms. Goodstein joined AXA Equitable in July 2005 as Executive Vice President, Marketing and Product Development. Immediately prior to joining AXA Equitable, Ms. Goodstein was senior vice president of Personal Financial Services for JP Morgan Chase - a platform she created that provides a broad range of banking and brokerage services to mass affluent clients within the branch system. Prior to joining JP Morgan Chase, Goodstein was president and CEO of Instinet.com, a retail entry into the online brokerage industry.
Goodstein earned her M.B.A in Marketing from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and her B.A. from Brown University. She holds NASD Series 7, 63 and 24 registrations.
