JAMIE SHEPHERDSON RE-JOINS AXA FINANCIAL AS EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT TO HEAD AXA DISTRIBUTORS, LLC

New York – Jamie Shepherdson has been appointed Executive Vice President of AXA Financial, Inc. and will head AXA Distributors, LLC, the company’s wholesale distribution division.   He will become a member of the company’s Executive Management Committee.

The announcement was made today by Christopher M. “Kip” Condron, President and CEO of AXA Financial.   Mr. Shepherdson will report to Mr. Condron and be based in New York.

For Mr. Shepherdson, the appointment marks a return to the company's wholesale organization, which he co-founded in the late 1990s.   He helped build and establish this ground-breaking company -- which created the foundation for making AXA the No. 3 seller of variable annuities in the United States.

Mr. Shepherdson will have overall responsibility for the continued growth of AXA Distributors and the execution of its mission to become the industry leader in the distribution of life insurance and annuity products through financial intermediaries such as wirehouses, financial institutions, independent financial planners, brokerage general agencies, third-party administrators, registered investment advisors and personal producing general agents.   AXA Distributors markets these products to approximately 90,000 registered representatives in those various channels.

Mr. Shepherdson has enjoyed a 26-year career in the insurance industry, which includes a number of leadership roles and a significant focus on third-party distribution organizations.   After leaving AXA, he became co-CEO of MetLife Investors Group, with responsibility for the design, manufacturing and distribution of products sold through third-party channels.

Most recently, he has served as CEO of John Hancock Funds, leading the organization’s product expansion and creation of an investment platform following the completion of the John Hancock-Manulife Financial merger.

A native of California, Mr. Shepherdson earned both a B.S. in Business Administration and a M.B.A. with an emphasis in Finance at the University of Southern California.
