New York – AXA Financial, Inc. has hired Barbara Goodstein as executive vice president and head of Marketing and Product Development. Goodstein also is now a member of the company’s Executive Management Committee. The announcement was made by Christopher M. “Kip” Condron, CEO and president of AXA Financial, Inc.
In this key role for AXA Financial, Ms. Goodstein will have responsibility for all life and annuity product design, upgrades and enhancements for both retail and wholesale distribution channels. She will lead the development of all marketing programs, sales materials and product launches and implementations. Her portfolio also includes directing market intelligence research and the creation of company-wide advertising and promotion. In addition, she will team with the company’s actuarial and finance areas to assure appropriate product pricing, asset/liability match, risk analysis and underwriting approach.
“AXA Financial’s strategic focus is centered on providing clearly differentiating financial advice and products, particularly in the retirement planning marketplace,” Mr. Condron said. “We are poised for significant growth in the coming years, and look to Barbara, with her outstanding experience and talent, to continue to drive our efforts in developing innovative products and marketing strategies that meet our clients’ needs.”
Immediately prior to joining AXA Financial, Ms. Goodstein was senior vice president of Personal Financial Services for JP Morgan Chase – a platform she created that provides a broad range of banking and brokerage services to mass affluent clients within the branch system. Ms. Goodstein defined the value proposition for this $50 billion dollar asset business and was responsible for overall profit and loss (P&L).
Prior to joining JP Morgan Chase, Goodstein was president and CEO of Instinet.com, a retail entry into the online brokerage industry. She also spent three years as vice president of Strategic Business Initiatives with Scudder Kemper Investments, three years as Chief Marketing Office for Van Eck Global, and has led marketing and strategic planning positions with Bankers Trust and Shearson Lehman Brothers.
Goodstein earned her M.B.A in Marketing from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and her B.A. from Brown University. She holds the Series 7, 63 and 24 registrations.
