Memphis, TN - AXA Financial, Inc., one of the world's largest diversified
financial services companies, today announced that it had renewed the title sponsorship of the AXA Liberty Bowl,
one of the nation's longest-running college football post-season classics.
"We are very pleased and excited to have a company of the caliber of AXA Financial as our title sponsor," said Steve
Ehrhart, Executive Director of the AXA Liberty Bowl. "Over the past three years we have developed a close working
relationship and found the company to be an outstanding partner in every area. We look forward to this close
collaboration as we continue to elevate both the status and recognition of the AXA Liberty Bowl as one of the premier
post-season events."
"Both from a branding and corporate responsibility perspective, we feel our backing of the AXA Liberty Bowl has been
a win/win for everyone involved," said John Caroselli, Executive Vice President of the Company. "Each year, the TV
ratings and attendance for the game have grown, as has its national prestige. In addition, through the Bowl's support of
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and associated contributions from the AXA Foundation, we have helped fund the fight
against childhood diseases. It is a unique event and we are very proud of our affiliation through the title sponsorship."
The AXA Liberty Bowl, which is broadcast on ESPN, is the only post-season game guaranteed to feature two conference
champions - the winners of Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference. Last year, the 13th ranked University of
Southern Mississippi defeated Colorado State University 23-17 on New Year's Eve.
AXA Financial (formerly Equitable Companies) became the title sponsor in 1997. Similar to the initial agreement, the
renewal is for three years. Terms were not disclosed.
